ENTERTAINMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. “BLONDE OR BRUNETTE.’I, PARAMOUNT WEEK ATTRACTION. “Blonde or Brunette,” which is to be screened at the Opera House tonight, is merely the record of a gentleman who looked for an “old-fashioned girl,” found her, and then discovered that Paris had worked a change. .Then ho divorced the first and married a real Victorian who liked nothing better than to stay home and play the harp. What was he to do? You’ll find out “Blonde or Brunette” unfolds itself. Adolphe Menjou is starred as Henri; Greta Nissen is Fanny; Arlette Marchal, Blanche. “Blonde or Brunette” is recommended by the censor as being more suitable for adult audiences. GRAND THEATRE—TO-NIGHT. “AN AFFAIR OF THE FOLLIES.” “An Affair of the Follies,” which opened last evening at the Grand Theatre, is a picture well spoken of in the trade reviews. Billie Dove plays the part of a chorus girl who leaves the stage to marry a penniless clerk, played by Lloyd Hughes. The other player is Lewis Stone, a fine actor, with many successful screen portrayals to his credit. The supporting 'programme will include! the final episode of the serial “The Fighting Ranger.” THE! “ARCADIANS.” SEASON STARTS ON MONDAY NIGHT. HAWERA OPERATIC SOCIETY.

Prospects are very bright for the opening of the season of five nights of the “Arcadians,” the selected opera for the year of the operatic society in Hawera. The rehearsals have been capital and the' producer (Mr Theodore Tresize) is more than pleased with- the work of the principals and chorus. An efficient orchestra too, will take its part in the production. Booking is very heavy and this ensures the financial aspect. The other societies are showing a loyal interest and already the secretary (Mr. Woollett) is advised of thirty members coming from EUtham, forty-five from Wanganui, fifty from Stratford and a number from Inglewood and New Plymouth.

Everything [promises well for Monday’s opening performance' and intending patrons should book their seats at once at the Opera House confectionery. The plans are filling well.
