FLOWER SHOW.

ST. MARY’S FIXTURE. Arrangements are well forward in all departments for Hawera’s popular Spring Flower Show —a notice of which appears in the advertising columns of the “Star” —and the public may look forward to something exceptional amongst this year’s exhibits in both the floral and the home industries sections. The display of spring blooms should be particularly interesting this year owing to the competing of some of South Taranaki’s most renowned growers. Special encouragement is, however, being given to novices by the provision of additional sections —the trophies for which being of a very high order and well worth making a big effort for.

There will be many special features in departments, and perhaps the most important, of these are, the Children’s Tableaux, entertainments, tug-o’-war competitions and the very fine exhibition of antiques and family treasures kindly lent by over sixty families of Hawera and surrounding district. This collection is a most unique one comprising wonderful specimens of beautiful needle craft, antiques and curios of very great age, and the public would be well advised to take this opportunity of seeing same. Great efforts are being made in tne “Stalls” department and the Winter Show Building is now a hive of industry. Decorations are receiving special attention and the general effect should bo very pleasing indeed. The Stalls include: —Afternoon tea, ice cream and soft drinks. Guild. Mens, apron, apron, children’s, sweets jumble, produce and country. Amusements and games are being provided for old and young ancl the Hawera Municipal Band has kindly consented to provide music on both evenings. me opening ceremony will be performed by his Worship the Mayor on Wednesday next at 2.30 p.m. Entries close on Tuesday next at 5 p.m.
