r PRICES AT ADDINGTON

(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 1.

At the Addington market to-day, wic-ii thie exception of cattle, yarding* were .ail smaller than last week. There was a better sale for store sheep, of which the yarding was the smakest for some time. Fat sheep and'fat lambs showed rises in price, and fat cattle, which totalled 625 head, were duller of sale and .prices a little easier. Store cattle were penned in larger numbers than for some time past and several pens of 2£-year-old .steers were the only lots besides cows for which any demand was shown. Extra prime lambs .sold to 31s 4d, prime 27s 6d to 29. s 6d, medium 24s 6d to 27 s, lighter 20s 6d to 245, stores 17s to 19s 6d. There was a smaller entry of fat sheep. The range of prices was : Extra prime wethers to 36s 7d, promo wethers 30s to 335, medium wethers 27s to 29s 6d, light wethers 22® to 26s 6d, extra, prime ewes 28« s to 33-s. 4d, prime ewes 23s 6d to 275, medium ewes 19s to 235, light ewes 16s 6d to 18s 6d, aged ewes 13. s 6d to 16s. The market for prime heavyweight steers and heifers was fairly steady, but all other classes showed an easier tendency, best quality .steer and heifer being .sold up to 36s per lOOlbs. Good prime quality medium-weight beef sold at 30s to 345, heavy steers 27s to 30s, good , quality cows 25s 6d to 28s, and rough cows 17s to 20s 6d per lOOlbs. The market was topped by a pen of five steers.* which made £l7 17s 6d to £lB 7s 6d. The range of prices was: Extra prime .steers to £lB 7s 6d, prime heavy steers £l4 to £l6, prime medium weight steers £l2 to £l4 10s, medium quality steers £7 to £ll 10s, rough and unfinished .steers £6 2s 6d to £6 15s .extra, prime, heifers £l.l to £l2 7s 6d, prime heifers £8 to £lO 10s, medium heifers £6 to £8 ss, light heifers £4 to £5 10s, extra prime cowis to £l2 2s 6d, prime cows £7 to £9, medium cows £4 to £6 10s, aged cows £3 to £3 17s 6d. Rigs.—Choppers made equal to an average of s®d to 6jd a pound, light porkers equal to an average of 7d to 8d a pound.

WESTFIELD QUOTATIONS

AUCKLAND, June 2. There was a fair yarding of ox beef at Westfield. Values for extra choice improved slightly, other grades being firm at late quotations. Cow and he.ifer beef was penned in average members, and values were firm. Extra choice ox sold to 27s per 1001 b; choice and prime. 23a to 255; just killable, £1 to £1 2s; prime young cow and heifer beef, £1 to £1 4s; just killable, 17s to 19s. Sheep.—There was an average yarding with little or no change in values. Extra heavy prime wethers made £1 3s to £1 10s ; heavy prime, £1 6s to £1 7 s 6d; medium , £1 3s 6d to £1 ss; light and unfinished, £1 Is to £1 2s 0d ; heavy prime ewes £1 4s 6d; lighter, 19s to £1 2s; other ewes, 15s to 17®. Heavy prime lamb made £1 4s 6d: medium. £1 2s 6d to £1 4s; .light, £1 Is to £1 2s.
