LINDBERGH’S FEAT.
VALUE OF LONG DISTANCE FLIGHTS.
(British Official Wireless., RUGBY, May 30. At a luncheon given by the Air Council in honour of Captain Lindbergh, Sir Samuel Hoare (Air Minister) congratulated the airman on _ his achievment, and on his having received the Air Force Cross at the hands of the King He said that such a great feat and fine achievement transcended national boundaries as completely as aeroplanes passed unhindered over the frontiers and peoples. As to the nse of Lindbergh’s flight, Sir Samuel said that from a technical viewpoint it was of great value. These long-distance flights stimulated progress and tested the reliability of aerial navigation, but the world at large rightly reached its verdict upon broader grounds. The people of many countries had applauded Lindbergh’s achievement, not so much because some material gain would be obtained, but because it was a fine example of nerve and endurance, skill and courage, enterprise and adventure. in the afternoon Captain Lindbergh visited the House of Commons.
