EFFORTS TO BEACH SETTLEMENT

SYDNEY, June 2. A conference of the Federal members of the Australian Labour Party, convened by Mr Charlton with a view to arriving .at a solution of the split 'in the party .ranks in New South Wales, which it is feared may extend to the Federal sphere, resolved that every avenue of conciliation should be explored in order once more to bring, about good understanding in aU sections of the movement.

To this end the conference appointed a committee representing the Federal Executive to* attend meetings of both the official and the Seal© executives, which are being held to-morrow in order to discuss the terms of settlement.

A LIVELY MEETING

SYDNEY. June 2

Mr Mutch, Leader of the Majority •Labour Party, addressed a meeting at Mascotte. the headquarters of his own electorate. The proceedings were very rowdy. It was evident that the opposition had been organised.
