HAWERA BAPTIST CHURCH.

SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. The anniversary services at the Hawera. Baptist Church passed oft successfully last Sunday, and excellent attendances were recorded at all services. In the morning the Rev. L.V-I-I. Barbour conducted the service, lie dealt with various points of New Zealand Baptist interest and activity, concluding in the Holy Laud, where Easter preparation is at present m progress. Instruction by interest was the accomplished aim. Part of the morning service was the presentation of prizes in connection iv tiff the Young AVer snippers League. Airs AT Ivin, is the enthusiastic leader of this branch of the work. In tlie afternoon a demonstration or beginners and primary departmental work was led by Mrs L. C. H. Barbour. The children sang and took oai't in the dedication service of Allison Mav Trim, one of the cradle roll babies. A nature talk and a “treasure box” lesson on ‘‘God’s great picture book” were correlated features of tne programme. . , , , The evening service was led bv tne minister. The subject was “The Symbolic Lamb.” Taking the text “Feed Alv Lambs,” Mr Barbour presented some of the. claims of the children entrusted to tlie Christian church. Special appeal was made, to parents to recognise tlie claims made 1 . upon them. After presenting the child as a vine with outreaching mind —tendrils, seeking something _ whereon to rest and wherewith io rise, Mr Barbour appealed to those, present to 1 progress with the thought of the times, to live the life and to follow the Great Master. The singing of the scholars under the leadership of Mr F. W. Horner was certainly a’ feature of the _ day. Sweetness, and clearness of enunciation distinguished their efforts. The anniversary will be continued on Wednesday evening, with tea for scholars and a public meeting at 7.30.
