CORRESPONDENCE.
UNEIMPLOYMENT.
(To the Editor.) , Sir, —Your leader of the 10 th insfe., on immigration and unemployment, jerks one’s mind blank on to the old, old story; unemployment is .still with us and will be as long as we are satisfied to be nailed down by capitalist morality. Almost any two problems can be” divorced, but capitalist production and unemployment; can never be divorced. Unemployment is a child of the capitalist .state, ever and always. True, sir, during one period from 1916 to 1919, we lost the issue, The world was very prosperously destroying men and materials, so we had no unemployment. I don’t hold that immigration affects the position of the unemployment. It only aggravates it. By stopping immigration, unemployment does not cea.se. It appears camouflage to me to harp on the subject, when over the page we read of a Royal visit, a. fraction of the ex- * pen we of which, would find good work for all New Zealand unemployed for yeans, and the Duke would still be all right. I am, etc., T. TV. J. HOWELL.
