BURNING OF THE COOMA.

Details of the burning of the steamer Cooma .show that the three caretakers on board were asleep for an .hour wir'e the ship was burning. before being awakened. All that time the lighthouse keeper, from the light on the North Reef, had been standing oif the, vessel calling, to them. By the. cime they reached' the rescuing boat, the Cooma was on fire from .stem to stern. The outbreak is thought to have been due to spontaneous combustion in the rotting cargo in one. of the after holds, or to have been, causd by lightning, of which there were frequent vivid flashes.
