A BpY DROWNED. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) FOXTON, Jan. 29. The six-year-old son of Mr and Mrs George Mounsey, of Watson Street, Foxton, who was playing on the wharf, fell over, struck his head on a- launch and was drowned. The body was recovered half an hour later. Artificial respiration was unsuccessful. A SUDDEN DEATH. AUCKLAND, Jan. 29. Mr M. C. Farrington, a well-known motor dealer, died suddenly in the Metropolitan Hotel about midnight, having apparently had a seizure when about to take a bath. CAR CAPSIZED. AUCKLAND, Jan. 29. As the result of the brakes failing on the slope of a razorbaek hill, a cm containing four persons capsized,. throwing the occupants clear, but Mrs Beaumont, mother of Mr Clement Beaumont, of Hamilton, sustained seroius injury to her shoulder, and Mortimer Beaumont, aged 21, a fractured arm. The driver, Clement Beaumont, was cut about on the right leg. TWO AUCKLAND ACCIDENTS. AUCKLAND, Jan. 28. While riding bicycles this morning, two lads, residents of Point Chevalier, .collided with motors, one lad, Sydney James Cole, aged 11, being killed outright, while the other, _ Russell Johnson, aged 16, lies in a serious condition ill the Auckland Hospital. MENTAL HOSPITAL TRAGEDY. HAMILTON, Jan. 27. A coronial inquiry was held before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., at Hamilton, this afternoon into the circumstances surrounding the death of Thomas Pnlford, a patient of the Tokanui Mental Hospital, who expired on the way to the Waikato Hospital yesterday following an assault by another inmate, John Holden. Dr. James McPherson, medical superintendent of the Tokanui Hospital, said that Holden was apparently suffering from delusional insanity accompanied by partial dementia, one of his delusions being that he was being chased by Ratana. . It .was found that Pulford died from liaemorrage and shock a-s a result oi. injuries inflicted by John Holden, the latter, at the time, being insane. CHILD’S FATAL FALL OVER A CLIFF. AUCKLAND, Jail. 28. 5 An inquest was held this morning before the Coroner, Mr. F. Iv. Hunt, S.M., concerning the death of Ivy Joan Smith, aged ten years, who died at the Auckland Hospital from injuries sustained through falling over ft cliu near the Shelly Beach baths. In returning a verdict of accidenta death, Mr. Hunt said it would be well, to draw the attention of the authorities to the desirability of fencing the locality so that such an unfortunate accident would not happen again. GIRL KILLED BY FALL FROM WAGGON. HAMILTON, Jan. 2S. At Eureka, to-day June Felicity Seavill aged nine and a-half years, the daughter of Ronald Seavill, a. farmer of Waingaro, was thrown from a milk waggon and killed. The accident occurred on the farm w'here the girl was spending a holiday. She was riding in the waggon when the vehicle struck a bump. The girl fell to the front-, taking the reins with her, and the horse took fright and bolted. Death was instantaneous. A DROWNING - FATALITY. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 28. An inquest into the death of Robert Fraser, who was drowned at the mouth of the Waimalcariri yesterday morning. was conducted by Mr. Mosley, S.M., to-day. The verdict was that hraser was drowned whilst engaged in fish trawling operations. The coroner commended Jefcoate and Pickard on thenplucky action in attempting to rescue their comrade. SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT MILL. BLENHEIM, Jan. 29. A serious accident happened at Carr’s mill in the Tinline Valley yesterday. A mill hand named James Horwood was replacing a belt on a large pulley, turning the pulley by hand, when the engine unaccountably started., The unfortunate man was whirled round the shafting under the roo*. Olid fell to the floor in an unconscious condition. Both legs were broken and lie received severe abrasions on the head and body. Horwood is 2-S years of age, a single man, and a native of Australia.
