MOTORISTS’ INTERESTS.

S.T. AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The monthly meeting of the executive of the South Taranaki Automobile Association was held last evening, when there were present: Messrs W. O’Callaghan (chairman), L. 0. Hooker, \V. A. JSpragg, G. J. Bayley, and W. G. Waikiey (secretary), and Dr. McGhie. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs S. C. Tonks, J. A. Duffill, E. P. Cox. P. O’Dea, and A. Lees. Mr Hooker suggested that a quarterly bulletin of the work of the association be circulated among members with a view to keeping members in touch. He considered that the membership of the association —now over 600 —was phenomenal, and that the issue of .such a pamphet would be of considerable vame to members.

Members generally expressed themselves as favourable to the .scheme.

On the motion of Mr Bayley and Dr. McGhie, it was decided to issue a quarterly bulletin for distribution among members. Mr Hooker and the secretary were appointed a committee for this purpose. The .secretary reported that nearly al\ the bridge approaches in the association’s territory had been painted white. The matter of having the position of several .signs altered was left in the hands of the chairman.

The secretary reported that the engineer of the Postal and Telegraph Department had made objection to the erection of the illuminated sign at the intersection of High and Princes Streets. —It was decided that a deputation. consisting of the chairman, Messrs Bay'ey and Walk-ley should wait upon the engineer upon liis next visit to Hawera.

It was decided to Fold the monthly meeting on the last Friday of each month.

A letter was received from Mr C. Gilbert, of Pa tea, who drew attention to a number of bushes growing on _ the Hawera side of the Tongahoe bridge, on the Main South Bond. These were such as to hide the view of the approaching traffic. He suggested that these lie cleared. —It was decided to write to the County Council on the matter.
