GRASS RECORD BROKEN \ New Zealand motor-cycle racing record was broken on the Opotiki race track last week, when W. Hen * bert established a new record for h.p. machines on a grass track for the living mile. The attempt was controlled bv the. officials of the Opotiki Molor-iCycle Racing Club, and after brilliant riding by' Herbert the time was announced as 50 seconds., ‘Hearty cheers and applause greeted the announcement, and after many congratulations, the cyclist was carried shoulder high from the track. the previous record was accomplished, at Takapuna when the mile was done in 52 3-5 seconds.
