CYCLING.
KAPONGa CLUB ROAD RACE. Ten members of tlie Knponga Cycle Club engaged in a road race 1 on Saturday around the Auron block, a distance of: approximately 20 miles. A brisk head wind for the first few miles of tile course belli the contenders in check, but for the greater part of the journey conditions were favourable. Blackwell (winner of the recent circular road race) and Boeock put up very good performances, l»ut the club lias apparently more than one string* to its bow, E. Lines’ handicap of 4 minutes proving just a little more l than the two good scratch men could give away. The placed men were:— E. fiines (4min.), 48min 25sec .... I J. Blackwell (sc.r), 45niin 20scc .... 2 H. W. Boeock (scr), 45min 20 J see. ?> Fastest time: .T. Blackwell, 45min 20sec. The Kaponga Cycle Club intends holding an electric light evening meeting towards the end of the month if it is possible to obtain the use of Taurnata Park, Eltham, for the occasion.
