What is believed to be the largest estate left by any woman ini the history of the Empire is that left by Lady Strathcona. which is now certified officially at a gross value of £6,749,231, on which duty of £2,166,780 is payable. The estate is left to her children, .subject to -'egacies including £15,000 to her son-in-law. Commander Kitlion. £SOOO to her son-in-law. Lord Congleton. £25,000 to the Royal Victoria Hosmtal at Montreal. £4OOO to her housekeeper and nurse, and £2OOO to her secretary.
