LEVIN TRAGEDY.

CONDITION OF THE INJURED.

(by telegraph—press association.) LJiIVTN. Nov. 5.

Further particulars regarding the tragedy at the house of W. G. Sloman show that Mrs. Sloman was found lying on a single bed in a front bedroom with serious injuries to her skid! from which the brain was protruding. Oil the bed alongside the husband was lying and was found to be suffering from the effects of poison. He was semiconscious. Both of the victims were in their night attire. In the room adjoining, Ritia Sloman was found in her bed and she also was suffering from terirble injuries to her •head. Russell Sloman, who occupied a room at the rear of the house, was also found to suffering from a severe injury over the eyes, evidently caused by a blunt instrument. He had lost a Jot of blood, the pillow being covered. During a search of the house by the police a tomahawk covered with blood was found in the sink. 'Sloman was formerly in the drapery ■business in Wellington. His poultry farm is one of the largest in the Dominion. He was well known in musical circles. Be had been in bad health for ■several years. Mrs. Sloman, who died- in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. Was 48 years of age. Her daughter is 19 years of age, and is a probationary teacher at the Levin High School. She has just passed her teacher’s examination and was going to the Training College next year. The son was 13 years of age.

Inquiries .at the hospital at 10 p.m. showed that the two children were still unconscious. They had been operated on, but were not expected to recover. Slaman's condition was serious, hut he had recovered consciousness.
