WOMAN’S BODY FOUND. -". I • (BV TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION .j HAMILTON. Nov. 5. A body, identified as that of Mrs. Maiy Devine, of Tamahere, was recovered from the Waikato River to-day. Deceased, who. was 27 years of age. left home last week, her car later being found abandoued near a bridge. VERDICT OF SUICIDE. ASHBURTON, Nov. 5. At the inquest on Robert Gordon Leadley, 23 years old, who was found shot at Elgin on October 20, the evidence showed that deceased, who was a rural mail carrier, had been charged on the previous day with having opened a postal packet and released on bail. The trouble was over a letter containing a receipt on which deceased admitted having endorsed a memorandum. The coroner returned a verdict of suicide by shooting, trouble hating so preyed on deceased’s mind that he was not responsible for his actions. IDENTIFY OF A BODY. AUCKLAND, Nov. 5. The body washed up on the waterfront -at Parnell on Thursday night has not been personally identified, but it is established that a. man fell overboard from the Matangi shortly after the vessel left Auckland far Tauranga on Wednesday evening and in the deceased’s pocket was a half ticket for tin Matangi, the other half having been collected on board. The ticket was taken out in the name of Roberts, but according to the papers among the luggage on the steamer his name is Frank Randall, a single man, aged 45 years. The papers show that he arrived by train on Wednesday morning and that lie came from the New Plymouth district. There were certificates showing that he had served throughout the war, having received the 1914 Star. MOTOR! BUS IN THE MUD. AUCKLAND. Nov. 5. A motor-bus owned by O. J'. Mahon was proceeding from the city to Papatoetoe when' it crashed through the stone parapet of the Tarnaki Bridge at O'taliuhu this afternoon and plunged head first into the mud fifteen feet below. There were five passengers, including a woman with a. .small child in arms, but no one was injured and not even a window of the bus was cracked. The passengers had to scramble through soft mud to dry laud. Fortunately the tide was out at the time of the accident.
