Reports from the various fruit growing districts, dmliaaite that owing to the effect of .th.ri.ps, 'aphis .and late frosts the crops* ol' many fruits -arc likely to be on tlie light .side. Adverse weather conditions, and very tad infestation of thrips have reduced the crops of apples in the coastal district to such an extent, that they are now likely to range from light to medium, Thrips also did much damage on tlhe tablelands, where the chief apple centres are. The blossoming was heavy, but the pest took heavy toll, especially on later blossoming varieties. The pear crops will also be light to medium. Heavy late froists have had a, serious effect .on peaches, and other stone fruit.
