AUCKLAND, Aug. 2S. Tu-ka,pa, the champion team of Taranaki, played Marist (Auckland) at Eden Park to-day. The weather was fine, but the ground on the soft .side. Marist threw the leather about in attractive style, but, despite many sparkling movements by the Marist backs, the team put up only eight points in the first spell. Tukapa gave a ragged exhibition and a potted goal in the last few minutes of the first spell, was their only score up to half time, which showed: Marist 8 Tukapa 4 In the second half play brightened up. tile Tukapa hacks showing to advantage. All through the second sped tlie visitors had a slight advantage, end although Marist strove hard to get across thev could not improve the score. Bradanovich, the .Marist fiveeighth, in a brilliant solo effort, wa.s grassed within a yard of the line. The Tukapa backs had a good: run. Hooker made a clever opening, and, after a, great run, passed to Newell, who ran in unopposed. Play was even in the dying stages, and the game ended nit’ll the score: Tukapa 10 Marist - '8
