NAVIGATOR OF THE NORGE.
ELLSWORTH OR. NOBILE? BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, July 19. In reply to a statement issued by Mr Ellsworth, denying that General Nobile had navigated tlie Norge in its historic flight, the Italian to-night asserted that he had complete charge of the dirigible on the Polar trip—Mr Elswortli was just passenger.” NEW YORK, July 20. Mr Ellsworth, .in a statement, -said: ‘lt- would be- extremely unfair to R.iiser Larsen, who navigated the entire flight- in tlie Polar Sea, and to Morgan and Wisting, who operated lateral and vertical controls, not to give credit, both for tlie navigation and for the steering, where it is due. During tlie entire flight of 72 hours I .stood without sleep in the navigation cabin. To the best' of my knowledge. General Nobile’s part in the navigation consisted of relieving the wheelman for three short periods during the flight.” General Nobile, commenting on this, said: “During the entire flight I acted all the time as captain of the airship, giving orders to everybody, and controlling what everybody was doing.”
