PERSONAL
It is with deep regret that I have t<± record the death ef a very popular returned soldier of the Waimate Plains, Mr Cornelius Keppel, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Keppel, of Kaupokonui, which took place at Auckland on Monday night. The deceased was held in very high esteem by all who knew' him, and was a. general favourite. He served with rhe 18th Reinforcements in Frame, was engaged in a great deal of active service, and was badly gassed and wounded. After returning he was more or less an invalid. The greatest sympathy will be extended to Mr and Mrs Keppel and family in their sad loss. This is the second bereavement in their family within 18 months. The funeral will take place at Manaia on Friday, leaving the Catholic Church at 2 p.m. for .the Manaia- cemetery, the deceased being accorded a military funeral. The Manaia Municipal Brass Band will play the Dead Mai’ch in Saul.
