RIVERLEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). SOCIAL. The opening ball held here on Friday last proved a. most successful and. pleasurable outing. There was a large crowd of admirers present, who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The music supplied by Boulton’s orchestra, was up to its usual excellent standard, and the supper and floor of the best. The hall was most tastefully decorated, and looked very pretty indeed. Messrs Wills and Gibbons carried out their duties as M’s.C. in their usual very efficient, manner, and gave every satisfaction. During the evening extra dances were' played by Misses Leech, Symes, Hudson and others.
On Wednesday evening last a. most enjoyab’e evening was spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. A. Symes, the occasion being the coming of age of their eldest son, James. Cards, dancing, games and songs were the order of the evening, and at the very sumptuous supper provided many toasts were drunk with musical honours, Mr Lonsdale carrying out the duties of toast-master in happy vein. The gathering broke up jn the “we sm.a’ oors” afte- a last Dench an’ Doris and the singing of “Aukl Lang Syne.”
