Each venr during Passion Week, a cantata ‘befitting the season is given by St. Mary’s choir. This year the chosen work is Dr.t C.hnllinor\s ‘‘the Passion of the Cross,’’ a cantata foi soli and chorus, with hymns for congregational use.” The story is compiled strictly from its Gospel history of the crucifixion, to which is added reflective- hymns and lyrics, intended to accentuate and emphasise the more important points in the scriptural story. The music of the cantata, is vorv beautiful and eminently fitting to the'subject- of the crucifixion It pictures the Last Supper, the Betrayal, and the Cross. There are included manv beautiful solos;. recitatives, choruses, and hymns, while the organ solos and accompaniments are very effective. . i
