A press message from Sydney states that Mfss Ena Stoeldey and Miss Piri Page, the New Zealand lady swimmers, were accorded a civic reception by the Lord Mayor of Sydney on their arrival on Wednesday. Latest advice to hand in a letter from Walter Fennell stated that he had received the extension of 1 the scholarship for which he had hoped. This will be exceedingly good news to many friends in Hawera who have taken a close and continued interest in his progress. .Walter has had the privilege of going to Rome, and of being heard hv the famous teacher Martino. The "great teacher said .he had heard many English voices, and that he was very pleased indeed with Walter’s, and urged that, if possible, he should study in Italy. This good report will he read with interest by his friends in Hawera, and especially by those who have taken part in the scheme by which he has been helped in his musical education.
