The vacancv on the Public Service \ppeal Board caused by the resignation of AD F. W. Flanagan, formerly Valuer-Genera. 1 , lias been filled by the .jpointinent of Air J. H. Jerrnm, general manager of the State Fire Office. A London cable message recorded the death of Air A. J. W. Alaconocliie. He was,-well known to every soldier in the Boer and Great- Wars as he devised the famous army ration, of tinned meat and vegetables. Air H. C. A. Fox has accepted the position of conductor of the Hawera Male Choir. The position was vacant owing to the resignation of Air Clement Howe, who had charge of the choir last year and did much good work with them. The first practice of the season will be held on Wednesday next.
