DRUNK AT THE RACES.

OBSCENE LANGUAGE USED. HORSE OWNER FINED. The unique experience of being arrested for drunkenness twice within twelve hours, befel John L. Fogarty, racehorse owner,, of Waverley, who appeaed before, Messrs C. O. Elcdahl and G. H. Buckeridge, J.P.’S, at Hawera to-day, on two charges of drunkenness and, one charge of using obscene language in a public place. Sergt. Henry stated that defendant was found lying drunk ou one of the seats in the bird-cage at the racecourse yesterday, and when arrested by Constables Tocher and Sca.nl an used the obscene language complained or. Defendant recovered sufficiently to be admitted to bail at. 7 p.m., but at 2 a.m. he was again arrested ror drunkenness. Defendant was admonished, by Lie bench, Mr Ekdalil pointing out that a number of ladies who were in the vicinity at the time of the, first arrest, must have heard the language used. A fine of £5 w-as inflicted on the charge of using obscene language, defendant being convicted and discharged on the two charges of drunkenness.
