(By Telegraph.—Special to The Star.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 9. Questioned regarding the report that the Government had issued regulations controlling art unions, the Hon. R. F. Bollard, Minister for Internal Affairs, stated that no regulations had been issued, but since August last the amount of prizes had been limited to £SOO Only two permits issued before that date for a larger amount remained for utilisation. The Minister declared that art unions would be much more closely watched, and balance-sheets would have to be produced .showing the expenditure. “There must he control, he added, “otherwise the real object of the drawing, which should be some public benefit, is defeated. It is not intended that people should get a living from flic promotion of <rrt* unions and the sale of tickets, as has been the case.”
