WHAT WILL IT BE ?
future: use. of wembley. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT, j LONDON, Oct. 14, Mr. J. H, Thomas interviewed the Premier (Mr. Stanley Baldwin) concerning the future of the Wemblev exhibition. The result is not disclosed, but some Dominion quarters predict that the Government will undertake to realise the whole exhibition and discharge the guarantors’ liability, which is still understood to be in the neighbourhood of £1,000,000. >
Mr. Thomas put three proposals to Mr Baldwin, viz., that Wembley might be maintained for further Imperial development ; that the buildings might be maintained for national purposes; and that the assets be realised (with details of offers received from outside sources for the land and buildings). It is the general opinion of the committee that national or Imperial use would be preferable to breaking up for sale. One idea advanced is to the effect that the building be used for an Imperial war museum.
