ASSISTANT TEACHERS CONFER. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION, WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. A conference o-f the Secondary Schools Association of New Zealand is being held to-day, Mr 11. B. The value of the Education Bill of 1924, giving the power of disciplining members, was appreciated in the annual report, which, after dealing with salaries, regretted that no further progress had been made in the matter of superannuation. There had been only one disagreement during the year between teachers and their board. Gratification was expressed that the Department had agreed, under abnormal conditions, to safeguard: the interests of all teachers where a reduction in grade was threatened bwiug to the fall in numbers in a school.
