DEEDS AND STAMP DUTIES

Following the retirement of Air. D. G. Clark, Commissioner of Inland Revenue, the Government has decided to constitute the Land and Income Tax branch a separate department of State under a head of its own. 1 The Land and Deeds branch is to be combined with th e Stamp Duties branch as a second department, also under one head. The two departmental heads have yet to be appointed. Their names are expected to be announced shortly bv the Public Service Commissioner. The Inland Revenue Department at present comprises Land and Income Tax under a deputy commissioner, Air. A. E. Fowler, Stamp Duties under a deputy commissioner, Air. J. Murray, and Lands and Deeds under the Regis. trar-General of Land and Assistant Secretary for Lands and Deeds, Air. G. E. Nalder. 4
