The young and beautiful wife of a wealthy tradesman named Lugano, when she awoke, found at her bedside the following note, wi it ten in Italian.: “Signorina, last night I visited your flat when vou were asleep. As I had not the honour of a peisona] invitation, I entered the window, frankly, in order to rob you. You will notice I collected your jewels and variables, which I intended to take off; but 1 saw you sleeping peacefully and fell in love with you. and sat for ten minutes at your bedside devouring your beauty. I became ashamed, and therefore restored them. Your humble admirer.” —A. and N.Z. Assn.
