(Received May 18, 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, May 18. As a result of a disturbance outside the United States Hotel at Carlton, John Henry Dodds, aged 42, died from a bullet wound in the head. Jack Maxwell O’Shea, the licensee, was arrested on a charge of murder. According to a statement o£ O’Shea, he and another man heard sounds of men attempting to break the gate. They saw one man climbing the gate, others assisting. O’Shea fired a shot from a revolver, intending to frighten them, but the man on the gate fell off. The men scattered when the police arrived. and escaped.
