The Prince of Wales and his staff were present, w.hile hundreds of men were shaved and sent "flying into the bath and ducked. The Prince of Wales received an address from Father Neptune,' in which Father Neptune offered a daughter in marriage, ' the “daughter” being a green-gowned lad with a fighting face. The Prince .replied, declining in a humorous poem of "his .own composition' the professed bride: —Reuter.
