CROQUET TOURNAMENT.
CONTEST FOR ROSE BOWL
IVON BY NEW PLYMOUTH
The liveliest interest was centrei in the teams’ match at the Taranaki croquet tournament, on the result- c! which depended the possession of tin fine challenge trophy given to the association by Dr. Home, a handsome lose howl. Hawera had won it twice previously, in 1922 and 1924, and were very anxious to retain their hold on the trophy this year. However, after a good opening win against New Plymouth Park, they went down rather unexpectedly to Aianaia. The latter, however, played a fine game and thoroughly deserved their success. Meantime ,\ew Plymouth Club had beaten Eltliam. and this left the final be played between them and Aianaia. The Plains' team were not in the same form as previously. While New Plymouth showed excellent form.
The final result was a win ior New Plymouth, which gave them possession of the Home tronhy for 1925.
They were warmly congratulated by all their opponents at the conclusion ol play.
