TARANAKI CENTRE. A meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Bowling Centre was held at New Plymouth last night. A letter was read from the Stratford Club protesting against the centre’s decision to fix the finals of the shield games on Saturday, February 21, as such date was a busy one in Stratford.—lt was resolved that the date be altered to February 28. In reply to Hawera Club, it was pointed out that clubs competing in the divisional finals for the Centre Shield must play rinks according to the numerical strength of the clubs. Thus .10 members and over, six rinks; 40 and over, five rinks; 30 and over, four rinks; 20 and over, three rinks. It was decided to inform the various centres concerned in the Taranaki tour that the date of the commencement of the tom* would be March 9, a week later than previously determined on. Entries from players desirous of taking part in the tour will close on February 28. The Auckland Centre wrote, stating that their touring team would arrive in Taranaki on March 23. It would comprise eight rinks. —The secretary decided to arrange the itinerary at a later meeting. It was resolved that the North v. South Taranaki match take place >at Stratford on March 5. entries to close on February 28. It is expected that twelve .rinks aside will take the field, and that six rinks will play on each o. the Avon and Stratford greens. The South Taranaki clubs wrote nsk mg permission to hold a tournament at Hawera at Eastertide. — ft tyas resolved that the request be banded to the Dominion Council for favourable consideration.

The draw for the shield finals resulted as follows: —First round, New Plymouth v. Stratford, Hawera v. Pi hama ; second round, Stratford v. Pi : ham a, New Plymouth v. Hawera; third round, Pihamn v. New Plymouth, Ha wer.i v. Stratford. All clubs exempt Pihamn will piny with six rinks, while Piimma will plav with two rinks. The '/antes will be of 21 heads and TfiU be played on the Avon green.
