( POSTAGE RATES. BT CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, Feb. 3. Regarding penny postage, the Post-master-General stated to a deputation that there was a good deal to be said for the restoration of the postage. He was at present in close touch with the Chancellor of the Exchequer on this subject. FLOODS IN QUEENSLAND. SYDNEY, Feb. 4. Heavy rain is falling in most parts of the State. A message from Brisbane states that torrential rains during the last few days flooded many northern rivers, and large areas of country are inundated. I WORLD COURT SCHEME. WASHINGTON, Feb. 3. A resolution to put the House of Representatives on record as favouring American adherence to the World Court scheme has been approved by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House. BRITISH WHEAT PRODUCTION. LONDON. Feb. 3. The council of the Associated Chambers of Agriculture adopted a resolution expressing the opinion that the Government should, without delay, inquire into the economic and strategic importance of wheat production, with a view to announcing the minimum quantity which should be produced Britain The Committee suggested that the Government’s grant of £1,000.000 to assist in marketing colonial foodstuffs should be accompanied by proportionate assistance to home food producers.
