MARKET REPORT. Alessrs Newton King, Ltd., report: Stratford sale, Tuesday, January 6 We report a medium yarding of cattle, which sold at late rates. Quotations. Good forward cows lip to £5 16s, store lows to £3 10s, dairy cows up to £5. Douglas sale, Alonday, January 12— We report a good yarding both in sheep and cattle, and a full clearance ■under the hammer. Quotations (all sheep shorn): Wether lambs 21s 6d, 4-tooth wethers 35s to 36s sd. 2-tooth wethers 31s lid, m.a. ewes 20s Id, f.f.in. ewes 23s 3d to 34s Id, fat ewes 30s, fat lambs 28s 7d, fat wethers 37s 7d, fat cows £5 4s to £6 3s, store cows and bulls at late rates, steers £5 19s. We also offered a line of Hereford cows with calves by P.A. bulls at foot on account of AH- R. Thom, and these realised the satisfactory price of £7 per head.
Ohura sale, Thursday, January 15 — We report a full yarding of both sheep and cattle, practically the whole of which was sold under the hammer at advanced prices. Quotations: M.s. lambs 16s 4d to 21s 6d, ewes and lambs (all counted) 22s 6d, 2-tooth ewes 35s od to 375, . 4 and 5-year ewes 275, 2-tooth wethers 29s lOd to 32s 4d. 4 and 6-tooth wethers 34s to 37s 3d (all sheep shorn).- A small pen of woolly wethers made 47s 6d. In the cattle pens we offered a fine line of 21-vear Shornhorn steers on behalf of Air* Afaleolm Clark, and after spirited bidding these were knocked down at £7 10s for the first pen. and the balance sold Horn £6 19s to £7 Bs. A tien of yearling steers on behalf of the same vendor made £4 16s; 3-year steers made £7. yearling steers £3 7s, yearling heifers 32s to 295. fat cows £7 3s. store cows £5 to £5 Bs.
