Wellington had one on the board, and required 163 to win when play opened to-dav. Hiddleston and Baker were batting. The latter took three balls from Torrence on his pads. Dickenson, replacing Alloo at the other end, bowled with the wind. Hiddleston hit- his seventh for four. Torrance heat Baker and broke his stumps. s—l—o. Bad cock went in and brought tlis total to 10 in 19 minutes, and the yate of scoring impiovod. At 34 Hiddles-ton was caught by Blamires, off Torrance 34—2 —19. Collins was next in, but when Badcock reached 20 Torrance howled him. 47 —3 —20. Banks went in but wns caught after scoring seven. 61—1 —7. AleGii'r partnered Collins, who, when 21, was bowled by Alloo. 74 —5 —21. Barclay was caught by Blamires, off Alloo. 78—6— ; 1. James came in and scored seven and then was bowled bv Torrance. 85—7—7. Henderson joined AlcGirr, and both hatted with extreme caution. The hundred appeared on the board after 108 minutes’ play. These men were together at the luncheon adjournment, when the score was 128 for seven. Wellington then required 35 runs to win.
Fine bowling and fielding made AVellington li'dit for runs. When Brice mined AlcGirr they still required eleven runs. With four required AlcGirr dashed up the pitch and lifted the. ball out of the ground, thus ending an exciting game. •
