MAGISTRATE’S COMMENT. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND/ Dec. 17. A,t the Police Court to-day, Mr. Finlay, solicitor, asked that the sentence on Abraham Salaman be increased to. "a month and a day, giving Salaman the right of appeal on the question of fact. Mr. Poynton declined, saying that the man had been swindling the public. Air. Finlay then said he would exercise the right of appealing on a question of law. Securitv for this appeal was fixed at £65 los. The effect is that the warrant of committal to pri.so.ll will be suspended till the New Year.
