AT PKKSBY'I FRIAN HALL, CHURCH A 1 EMBERS LEAVING DISTRICT: On the eve of cheir departure from. Haver a, Mr.,,a.nd. Miss YVhitelaw and Air. J. Hopkitll were last evening entertained at, a farewell funcfioii’in the Presbyterian Hall. . Mr. and Miss Whitelaw leave on Friday for Auckland, and Mr. Hopkirk leaves-- shortly--fo-r Cambridge, and as they have all been energetic workers in the Presbyterian Church and have earned for themselves -a wide circle of friends, there were about Io() people present last night to wish 1 them good-bye. Mr. A. O. Wliitelaw has been, the leader of the senior young men's Bible class, and has also- taken hi® place as g- member of the choir and an elder of the church. Aliss AVhitelaw has been a. teacher in the primary department _of the Sunday School, and Mr. Hopkirk has been-lor very many years an elder of the church. - The Rev. Air. Evans presided, and the evening was taken lip by a musical- programme,--competitions., supper, and presentations to the guests. Mr. Whitelaw was . presented by the Bible ©lass members, the choir, the managers an,d the; elders, with a gold chain and pendant suitably engraved, and- Mi ss Whitelaw was presented with a manicure set bv the Sunday school . teacliei-s. Air. 'Hopkirk was presented; with- a brush cabinet;by the office-bearers. -
