SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
PICNIC AT' NGAERE. r MEAIBERS ENTHUSIASTIC. At a well-att'eikied meeting of the committee, Air J. E. Campbell presiding, it was re'solved to hold a general picnic at Ngaer© On January 21, Arrangements will be made fo.i* a special train to convey the large number of members to the gardens. : ft is worth noting the keen enthusiasm shown by members, who already comprise a very large list. A great attraction to members and their families lias been the Hallowe’en festival, which is mainly for children. The. leopard skin provided by the Society for the Eltham Band drummer is a very fine specimen, and has been much admired. It was necessary to send to Scotland for the skin. The secretary reports that ,as a result of the formation of the society and the enthusiasm shown there has been a great demand for Scottish poets.’ and other literary works. It is interesting to se© that the societv has created a bond amongst Scotchmen in the province which has resulted in such a large membership. The aim of the society'is to let members become acquainted, and they .are anxious to-' foster a knowledge of Scottish history and a. love of Scottish song and story.
