NEGRO’S LAPSE.
“A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN.” {BY TFT.KC.HAPH PMICSS ASSOCIATION. ) PALMERSTON N., Dec. 16. In the Magistrate’s Court a. smartlydressed negro youth, Alec. McGrudeV, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon for the theft of two diamond rings from a local jeweller's shoii. Accused had entered the shop to have his spectacles- repaired, and during the absence of the girl in the workshop ho had taken two rings. Counsel said that accused was filling an important role in a travelling company, and the lapse was due to a nervous breakdown.
