MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
WEEKLY .SITTING. OFFENDERS DEALT WITH. The .weekly sitting of the Hawera Magistrate’s Court was held to-dav, Mr J. S. Barton, S.M., presiding. .A youth named George W. E. Leach, who was convicted on June 19 last of a gauge valued at 10s, the property of Chas. Purdev, appeared for sentence. The police report was satisfactory, and the Magistrate said,he would keep his promise and would convict and discharge the defendant. For failing to register under the DeBernard O’Brien was fined £1 10s and rs court cost» ; Tmp more offenders who were caught speeding at the intersection of South road and Collins street on the day of the Waverley races were charged by the Borough Inspector (Mr L. Hunt) with driving over fin intersection at a speed greater than six miles- per hour. John Herbert; Raymond was the first dealt with, the inspector estimating his speedy at from 20 to 25 miles per hour. , £2, with 7s court costs and 10s 6d Solicitor’s fee,....was imposed. An the case of Roy Ritchie, the other offender, the inspector estimated defendant s speed at from 30 to 35 miles per hour, and said, that he saw Ritchie pass two cars before he reached the intersection. _ Th «. Magistrate inflicted a fine of £5. 'with 7s court costs and 10s 6d Sblocitor’s fee. CIVIL CASES.
