’BUS DRIVER’S NEGLIGENCE.
CORONER’S FINDING. (by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, Dec. 11. The coroner, Mr. McKean, SM , found that Wilfred. James Wheeler, bus proprietor, had uegligeritly driven a vehicle on November 17, when he knocked down. Richard Rhodes Hartwell (69), who subsequently died in hospital. Tlie coroner said it appeared that Wheeler, when turning, line! his .view obstructed by a. passenger who Mas standing. The bus was licensed to carry nineteen passengers, and Wheeler admitted that he took that to mean he was entitled to carry only nineteen passengers. The seats were full and ‘he had five or six standing. Wheeler asked this man it all was clear and then turned sharply. If he relied upon tile word of an. irresponsible person he must be held responsible.
