MEN’S GOLF CLUB.
SUGGESTED PURCHASE OF COURSE.
For some time the committee of the club have had tinder consideration the question of purchasing a course, part being that on which they are playing and the balance some of the country on the sea front to the south. At a general meeting held last night the scheme, after being explained to members by the sub-committee set up to go into details, was exhaustively discussed. A plan prepared by Mr." Sturrock .was shown, giving a sketch of the portion proposed to he acquired. The opinion of the members generally w r as strongly in favour of the purchase, provided satisfactory arrangements could h© made. Eventually it was resolved that the club he incorporated, and that an offer be made to the owners of the property, the Tonks estate. Meantime a thorough canvass is to lie made by all members to take up debentures, so as to provide the required amount of deposit to enable the purchase to he made if the offer of the club is accepted. . The members -were most enthusiastic. A vote of thanks to the chairman, and to Mr. Salmon for ff-' -’so of his board room, concluded the meeting.
