AVIATORS’ DIFFICULTY.
FLYING OYER RACECOURSE. VAIN EFFORT TO LAND. . CALCUTTA, Nov. 17. The Dutch aviators who, are engaged on a flight round the world, flying an erratic course toward Siam, left Alcyab yesterday, with the intention of going to Bangkok in one flight, but they unexpectedly appeared over the Rangoon racecourse. This is the only landing place in Rangoon, but races were in progress, and thousands of racegoers were thrilled by the sight of the aeroplane flying so low that it nearly struck the roof of the club premises. Seeing that they were unable to land safely, the airmen made off towards Bangkok. They afterwards effected a safe landing at Kambe, in the Rangoon area. They ran short of petrol, and intended to land at the racecourse to secure supplies.
The aviators are all well. They started for Bangkok this morning, and later passed over Moulmein. They were flying low, but did not stop.
