A Shipping Free Labour Bureau worker was violently assaulted while crossing the Domain towards Wooloomooloo by about 40 lumpers, who suddenly surrounded him and knocked him down. It was only the appearance of two policemen that saved the man’s life. He was taken to hospital \yith a fractured jaw and other serious injuries.

An attempt was made to attack another Bureau worker, but he saw the move in time and made off. He was chased a considerable distance.
