LONDON, Sept. 23
To endeavour to meet the ever-grow-ing competition of U.S. film producers, a conference of. European film interests of all kinds has' been called to meet in London on the last three days of next month. French, German, Swedish, Swiss, and Italian producers, actors, and distributors will bq invited, as well as the British, and invitations have also been issued to the representatives of U.S. houses in England- It is being organised by the editor of one of the leading trade organs, and in discussing objects to-day, he said: “We are calling this conference literally to save our lives. It is in no way directed against Americans, but simply to try to discover means by which the European film interests may exist. “Nearly all the English producers have been driven to the wall and the independents and renters have been forced out of business, and if we are to live at all we- must take counsel together and poo! our resources.”
