FIFTY YEARS.

WELLINGTON COLLEGE JUBILEE

Wellington College was established in 1867, but it is proposed to celebrate the jubilee this year, which is the 50th anniversary of the removal of the school to its present site. In the arrangements for the celebration, the school, the old boys, and the Board of Governors are co-operating in an endeavoui to make the occasion one truly memorable in the annals of the college. A great gathering of old boys is hoped for. and steps are being taken to get in touch with'those who are far from Wellington. They are scattered all over New Zealand, and, indeed, all over the world, hut it is expected that many will he able to come back to the old school and renew association in the jubilee. For these a programme has been arranged extending over three days—November 29 and 30 and December 1. On the first day there will be a. mass meeting in the'Town Hall, when appropriate speeches will be made and school songs will he sung. On Sunday afternoon, there will he a procession and church service in the college grounds (or in the Town Hall if the weather is wet), and on Monday Old Boys’ Day will be held at the college grounds with events and competitions on a grander scale than usual. also, Firth House, the Gifford Observatory, and the Old Boys’ Sports Pavilion will be opened. In the j s intended to'hold a dinner. i -lu Bovs who cannot come to Wellington will, it is expected, hold reunions nn a smaller scale' in other places. In all the chief centres of New Zealand there are sufficient Old Boys to make such gatherings successful, and in overseas centres, particularly in fyondon. there are also considerable contingents.—Wellington Post
