TE NGUTU TENNIS CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The. annual general meeting of the le Ngutu-Tempsky Road Tennis Club was held at tne Park pavilion on 1 ue.sday evening. The retiring president (Mr T. i’ork) occupied the chair. ihe annual report stated, inter alia, that the season nad proved satisfactory financially and from a playing point of view. Numerous matches had been arranged with neighbouring clubs, and thougn not • always successful, the club’s representatives had given a fairly good display. The annual dance( which took place at Okaiawa, had pioved a great success, much credit being due to thos responsible lor its administration. Congratulations were extended to Miss E.. .O’Dowd on her success in winning the first prize at the recent opening tournament held at hang Edward Park, Hawera. The report concluded with a reference to the newly-formed Matapu Club, to whom Te Ngutu wished every success. The balance-sheet disclosed a credit of £3 Is Bd. The report and balance-sheet were adopted without discussion. The chairman stated that the retiring honorary secretary, Miss G. Betts, who was unavoidably absent,‘ had intimated that she would be unable to accept nomination for the ensuing year. The notification was received with regret, and at a later stage of the meeting a vote of thanks in aDpreciaticn or Hie able services rendered by Miss Betts was recorded. The e.ertion of officers resulted as loliows: Patron, Mr C. Pacerson ; president, Mr G. Hurley; vice-presi-dents. Messrs H. Crocker, T. Harris, and D. Hurley: hon secretary, Miss O’Dowd : committee. Meed times A. Freeman, D. Hurlev and Messrs T. iork, K. McNae and C. Paterson jnr. ; club captain, Mr C. Paterson jnr,’ Suhscrintion fees were fixed at os for ladies and 7s 6d for gentdemen, reducible to 3s and 5s respectively, if paid hv January 1, .1925. It was decided that the official opening of the season he held on Wedensdav, November 12, the secretary being authorised to extend an invitation to members of contemporary clrMs to be present. Arrangements were made to hob] a combined doubles open handicap tournament on the. opening day. the nomination fee to he 2s per player. Mr C. Paterson was appointed as Handidapper and the committee was authorised to provide suitable trophies. In recognition of the assistance he had given the club in attending to the courts throughout the season, a vote of thanks was accorded Mr C. Revell, the park caretaker. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the retiring president and all out-going officers.
