WORK—FOR THE END IS COMING.
MR MASSEY’S FORECAST. BILLS TO BE DEALT WITH. (By Telegraph—Special to the Star.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 30. Interest was shown by members In a question Mr. Wilford put to the Premier regarding the Bills!. with which the Government intended to proceed, and those which were to be scrapped. Mr Massey, however, did not give much information, although, he said, he had been considering the matter. There were quite a number of Bills that. could be dealt with at the rate of half a dozen daily. Mr Parry:. There are a large number of Bills that do not matter : much. Mr Massy: I agree. Mr Parry: These are all we have been engaged in dealing with this session. It has been an absolute waste of time. Mr Massey: I quite agree.. The Premier added that after a lot of work he had prepared an Agricultural Bank Bill, although that was not its title. He wanted to give it a show. Mr Wilford remarked that lie would uot complain that the Premier had stolen his Bill, even if he called it an Agricultural Bank Bill. Hon. Mr Hanan: What about the Licensing Bill? • Mr Massey: I made a mistake the other day when I said it had gone to the printer. If members settle down to work and there is no more obstruction we ought to finish easily next week. Mr Langstone: You won’t have the Bills ready. Mr Massey: That stage is past, and the law drafting office will keep us fully supplied. Mr Holland: The Gaming Bill allowed them to catch up. (Laughter.) Mr Massey: Well, it was the obstruction tactics. (Laughter.)
