The secretary of the Hawera Retailers Association wrote asking the association to contribute towards the salary of the nightwatohman. The subscription- would be 2s per month. (( Remarks of “nothing doing'’ and we re too hard up” were made by members, and it was decided that the letter be received. The district traffic manager, nui, advised the association of details in respect of special train arrangements for the forthcoming show.— Received. The Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand wrote stating that the railway commission, presided, over by Sir Sam Fay, was taking evidence in New Zealand, and evidence would be taken in Wellington concerning anomalies and weaknesses in the railway system in about three weeks’ time. The society asked the Egmont Associa-* tion to point out any anomalies or weaknesses or give helpful suggestions so that assembled evidence might be placed before the commission. Members had no immediate suggestions to make,, and the letter was received. Mr. J. R. Corrigan, M.P., wrote stating that there was very little chance of the Workers’ Compensation Amendment Bill coming before the House this session, but he had-noted the association’s objection to same: In connection with, the same Bill, Mr. 0. Hawken, M.P., wrote advising that he was in sympathy with the views expressed by the association. The principal of the Technical School (Mr. Grav) advised that the following boys belonging to the Agricultural class were willing to act 9 as stewards at the forthcoming show: Seniors—l. Nicholas and R. Duckworth ; juniors—J. Vinten, W. Shearer, J. O’Shea, K. Reynolds, A. Warren and A. Philpott. A vote of thanks was acorded Mr. Gray for the trouble he had gone to in the matter. - Mr. A. Mills was appointed judge for the school cow judging competitions. An application by the Farmers’ Coop. to extend the sale of Mr. J. Nicolson’s stock, on the morning of the second day of the show, to a sale of any cattle entered in the show, was granted. The following new members .were elected: Messrs. W. A. Clinton (Kakaramea), E. K. Cameron. (Farmers’ Co-op., Hawera), L. J. Neumann (Hawera), K. Murray (Manaia), J. Bushy (Kapuni). J. McDonald, A.
